The Snug Beanie is a timeless yet contemporary hat with a wide fold, crafted in a double layer of 19.5-micron merino wool from New Zealand. It features a 1:1 rib knit with 7 stitches per inch. The long-staple, tightly spun yarn retains its elasticity and shape throughout its lifespan. Recycled post-consumer nylon is added for enhanced stability. Finished with a clean, three-tone SWIMS silicone logo.
Knitted hats have been around since the 1400s, and even earlier forms like needlebinding were used for headwear in Viking times. The Welsh “Monmouth Cap” from the 1800s became popular among sailors and is considered a predecessor to what we now call the beanie. While originally a functional item, the beanie has become a cultural staple in youth and college fashion from the 1960s onward.
The name Snug suggests a close fit and clean silhouette – and carries connotations of warmth, comfort, and security.
